Notice of the lda County Board of Supervisors intent to fill the vacancy of the office of lda County Auditor by Appointment.

Due to the retirement of Auditor Lorna Steenbock, lda County has a vacancy in the Auditor’s Office as of August L,2023. Pursuant to lowa Code Section 69.144 (2Xa). The Board of Supervisors intends to fill the vacancy by appointment. The term of the appointment shall be until the next general election in 2024.

Pursuant to lowa Code 69.144 (2) a petition may be filed by eligible electors within 14 days after the appointment requesting a special election to fill the vacancy until the canvass of the General Election which will be on November 12, 2024.

Persons interested in the appointment must apply for the position no later than June 30, 2023. The FY24 salary will be $62,538. Benefits include county paid family health and dental insurance. $10,000 county paid life insurance policy and IPERS retirement plan. lnterviews will be held as determined by the Board of Supervisors. Pursuant to lowa Code Section 69.1.4A, the person appointed to fill the vacancy shall have actually resided in lda County for at least sixty days prior to their appointment.
